That hasn&#8217;t always been the case. In years past, people had to rely on home remedies or folk medicines; sometimes there was nothing else. Some of these remedies were useful and harmless enough, but others are very dangerous and should never be used. Here are three home remedies you definitely want to keep away from.</p>
<p>#1: Using Kerosene to Get Rid of Head Lice</p>
<p>You may have read accounts where parents used a small amount of kerosene to kill the lice in their child&#8217;s hair. This was an effective way to get rid of the pests. Unfortunately, it was also very very dangerous. I&#8217;m sure you can imagine why this method is clearly one that isn&#8217;t recommended anymore, so no matter what you&#8217;re told, you should avoid this one at all costs. This remedy is completely unsafe for the following reason.</p>
<p>Kerosene is flammable. If you put it in the hair, and then a child goes near a candle or fireplace, you can have a very bad situation on your hands. It is also extremely toxic, and absorbs readily through the skin. Many children became ill or even died after receiving kerosene as a treatment for head lice.</p>
<p>#2: Using &#8220;Azarcon&#8221; or &#8220;Greta&#8221; for Stomach Upset</p>
<p>In many Mexican and Mexican-American communities, the treatment of &#8220;empacho,&#8221; or general stomach and intestinal distress, was to take a powder. Two commonly used powders were &#8220;Azarcon,&#8221; and &#8220;Greta.&#8221; Both of these were almost entirely comprised of powdered lead.</p>
<p>If you take lead internally, even a small amount can be harmful. Many people were hurt or even killed from this remedy. Believe it or not you can still sometimes find these powders for sale. Obviously, do not even purchase or use them.</p>
<p>#3: Putting Butter on a Burn</p>
<p>You may have been told by your mother to smear butter on a burn. This comes from when women would be cooking and burn themselves butter was often handy, and it makes the burn feel better at first. The down side is that the treatment contaminates the burn. If you put butter on a new burn, you are inviting infection because bacteria will grow rapidly in the butter.</p>
<p>We all know we are to respect and listen to our elders. If your elders recommend home remedies, however, you may want to take this with a grain of salt. Often modern medicine knows best.</p>

<p>One of the drawbacks to using men health forums for information, as opposed to going to your doctor, is that you can never be absolutely sure if the information you&#8217;re getting is correct. For example, if you ask about the different treatments for foot fungus, you can get lots of suggestions that won&#8217;t help you at all. Even when people who reply to your thread claim to be a physician, you can never be positive that they really are. On the other had, if you go to your doctor you know the advice you&#8217;re getting is worth following.</p>
<p>All in all, when it comes to men health forums it&#8217;s a mixed bag. There are plenty of benefits, but if you don&#8217;t know what you&#8217;re getting into you can end up following bad advice. I suggest checking them out if you have a question that isn&#8217;t very serious in nature. For instance, you can ask about which exercises can help you build your triceps the fastest but I wouldn&#8217;t suggest relying on a forum to tell you how to treat cancer.</p>

With so many medicines out there, some of the more effective but least recommended, are sinusitis herbal medicines. Sinusitis herbal medicines work wonders, and they do not have the side effects that chemical alternatives are known to have.<br/><br/>Here are some of the great sinusitis herbal alternatives to try the next time you contract sinusitis. These are available dried, made as a tincture, as pills and capsules, and in syrup form.<br/><br/>1. Echinacea (Echinacea Purpurea) &#8211; Echinacea is a known immune stimulant that speeds up the healing of bacterial, fungal, and viral infections. Since these are some of the common causes of sinusitis, herbal alternative Echinacea is a great way to cure the disease. This also has the added bonus of being an anti-inflammatory, which helps drain the mucus from the sinus cavity. Lastly, Echinacea inhibits an enzyme called hyaluronidase, which is produced by bacteria to invade the body through the mucus membrane.<br/><br/>2. Goldenseal (Hydrastis Canadensis) &#8211; This is a powerful broad-spectrum herbal antibiotic. This contains berberine, an alkaloid with antimicrobial qualities found to be very effective on a number of pathogens. It also contains hydrastine, an alkaloid with immune enhancing properties known to promote mucus flow. As a sinusitis herbal medication, this is very effective.<br/><br/>3. Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus Globulus) and Peppermint (Mentha Piperita) &#8211; Sinusitis herbal oils are recommended by aromatherapists because it helps with relieving the sinuses. You can put the oil in a vaporizer or rub the diluted version into your forehead to relieve sinusitis. If you do not have the oils available, bruised leaves work as well. Just crush them and add a few drops of water to make a poultice. Another option for sinusitis herbal medication is to make tea.<br/><br/>4. Garlic (Allium Sativum) and Onion (A. It is a source of butyric acid, which is essential for a healthy metabolism.<br/><br/>7. Oregano (Origanum Vulgare) &#8211; Oregano is part of the mint family and thus is useful in many ways. You can drink it as tea, massage it in as essential oils, or even add oregano to food to ingest it. Some body builders forget the importance of cardio, because they don&#8217;t want to lose muscle mass as a result. Unless you are an ectomorph, part of your exercise regime should focus on aerobics. Contrary to what some people believe, cardio will not reduce you&#8217;re muscle mass, and it will help you build up endurance and gain more definition.<br/><br/>Below is a list of reasons why you should keep up to date with your cardio workouts.<br/><br/>Prevention of disease, such as obesity and heart attack<br/><br/>Good mental health (studies show that people who exercise more are less likely to be depressed)<br/><br/>Shed off that layer of unwanted fat to show off the body you worked so hard for<br/><br/>Lowers blood pressure and resting heart rate<br/><br/>Increases blood flow to your muscles, which results in more nutrients being delivered to them<br/><br/>Increases endurance, which might help you lift heavier for longer time periods<br/><br/>When you are doing cardio, there are a few things that you should remember, they are duration, intensity and frequency.<br/><br/>Duration<br/><br/>Duration is how long you do a continuous aerobic activity in one session. Ideally, you should be training between 20 and 60 minutes per session. However, if you are a beginner, you may start by doing shorter workouts, of about 10 minutes at a time. Once you become stronger and more comfortable, you should start to increase how long you are exercising for. You should NEVER strain yourself, especially if you are a beginner. If you feel weak or dizzy, slow down or stop, and of course, consult a physician if you have any health problems before you begin. Note that although cardio will not promote muscle loss, if you&#8217;re goal is to add mass you should be doing only about 20-30 minutes a time or else you will burn too many calories.<br/><br/>Sample workout for a beginner<br/><br/>2 minutes warm up (ex. light walking)<br/><br/>6 minutes higher intensity activity (ex. brisk walking, light jog etc)<br/><br/>2 minutes cool down (ex. light walking or stretching)<br/><br/>Sample workout for intermediate<br/><br/>5 minutes warm up<br/><br/>20-35 minutes high intensity cardio<br/><br/>5 minutes cool down<br/><br/>Sample workout for advanced<br/><br/>10 mins warm up<br/><br/>40 mins high intensity cardio<br/><br/>10 mins cool down<br/><br/>Cardio Fitness Continued<br/><br/>Intensity means how hard you are working during your activities. This is a key component for optimal health and fat loss. Beginners should aim for a target heart rate of lower that 55% of their maximum heart rates, while intermediate and advanced people should aim for about 65-90%. Your maximum heart rate level is approximately 220 minus your age, but of course this may vary depending on your fitness level. Gym equipment usually has hand censors that will tell you what your heart rate is at, so that you can maintain a good level of intensity throughout your workout. If you find these censors annoying to hold or you are outside, and easy way to see how hard you are working is to see how well you can talk.<br/><br/>If you can sing without difficulty, you aren&#8217;t working hard enough<br/><br/>If you can talk without much difficulty, you aren&#8217;t working very hard<br/><br/>If you can talk with a little difficulty, you are working at an average<br/><br/>If you can&#8217;t talk at all, you might be working too hard<br/><br/>Take a look at these guidelines, and judge for yourself what a good pace is for you.<br/><br/>Frequency<br/><br/>Unless you are an ectomorph, you should be generally performing cardio 3-5 times per week, unless you have a lot of fat to loose you can go for 5-7 times per week. You should never space you&#8217;re cardio fitness sessions out for more than 48 hours because your body start to loose the positive effects of the previous workout.<br/><br/>Interval Training<br/><br/>Interval training is a cardio workout that will take less time than a regular cardio workout and burn more calories. This type of workout is very effective and you will only need to do it for 15 &#8211; 20 minutes at a time. An example of interval training is to run for 3 minutes and walk briskly for 2 minutes. You continue this cycle until your workout is complete (don&#8217;t forget to warm up!). This type of workout is great for preventing the boredom that can come with steady state cardio and boosts fat lose. Interval training is also good for improving you&#8217;re cardiovascular abilities and preventing the muscle loss that can come with regular cardio. Remember that you should always be changing the duration of how long you are running and walking to keep your body guessing. This type of cardio can be done on virtually any cardio machine, and also outdoors.<br/><br/>Interval training vs. steady state cardio<br/><br/>Interval training &#8211; Pro&#8217;s<br/><br/>burns a lot of fat<br/><br/>takes less time<br/><br/>burns less muscle tissue<br/><br/>Steady state cardio &#8211; Pro&#8217;s<br/><br/>Improves endurance<br/><br/>Little impact on joints<br/><br/>It is not as easy to &#8220;burn out&#8221; &#8211; so you will end up burning more calories<br/><br/>An ideal workout routine will consist of both of these types of cardio, as they both have their own benefits. The popular natural food includes bone meal, nuts and seeds, vegetable juices and yogurt.<br/><br/>The people in USA have gained interest in these edibles since 1960 and many factors are responsible for that. Some of them include their desire for having wholesome food, the anxiety that have been caused by various studies by linking certain chemical additives to cancer and other harmful disease and the growth of a movement for environment protection. Even major American cities and also a few smaller ones had their support for health food stores and the supermarkets that had special health food sections by the late 1970s. Many enthusiasts claimed that the chemical additives added to food are harmful for health and it has also been accepted by scientific and medical community. But still there is no proof that the chemicals used in production of food have curative properties or health enhancing characteristics. We also are not still sure that the organically grown vegetables are more healthy compared to the ones with chemical additives.<br/><br/>The foods that are sold as health foods are usually costly as sometimes the organic foods cannot be only distinguished by their appearance and the ordinary fruits are also passed off as the foods which have been grown without the help of chemical fertilizers. People have become more concerned about their health and so they are switching to healthy foods.
